Mr Peter Goodship
Chair and Company Secretary
Peter Goodship is Chief Executive of Portsmouth Naval Base Property Trust, a charitable company responsible for the regeneration and preservation of historic buildings associated with Her Majesty's Naval Base, Portsmouth. Peter has also advised several cities in the UK and Western and Eastern Europe on the regeneration of former military sites of historic significance.

In addition to being a Director of several charitable and non-charitable companies associated with the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, he is also Director of one of the leading independent schools in the country specialising in special needs, particularly dyslexia, dyspraxia and aspergers. Peter is Chair of the School's strategy and development committee.

Peter also has an interest in the integration of the disabled and in the 1970's established the Portsmouth and District PHAB (physically Handicapped and Able Bodied) movement and developing it into the largest club of its kind in the UK. Peter is currently working with Lord Rix and his colleagues associated with Libertas in pioneering new resources to make visits to tourist attractions by those suffering from a whole range of intellectual disabilities more meaningful.

A keen sportsman (now spectator!) Peter is married with three teenage children living locally in Southsea.

Jackie Wright
Vice Chair



Jackie has a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development,
Diploma in Individual Performance Coaching and is a accredited Personal Wellness Coach, and is a chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Jackie is also a Member and Deputy Chair of Lord Chancellor’s North Hampshire Advisory Committee; whose main purpose is to recruit magistrates.

Jackie’s areas of expertise lie in Performance Improvement Coaching for individuals and teams and organisational and individual Health and Wellbeing, including stress management

Hazel Hine M.A. (Oxon), Dip L.D. (Manc) M.L.I., M.I. Hort , M.R.T.P.I.
Hazel Hine - TrusteeHazel has 30 years' Local Government experience, with 20 years at a senior management level, gained primarily in the following areas: Town & Country Planning, Highway Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Public Art, Community Planning, Community Development, and Physical, Social & Economic Regeneration. Hazel has extensive project management and contract experience and a background of 10 years' intensive development work with residents and agencies in Portsea.

Hazel is a Chartered Landscape Architect, Chartered Town Planner, professional horticulturalist and has Diplomas from the Institute of Management and the Institute of Linguists .

She is currently leading the overall project for the redevelopment of the John Pounds site and is a Member of the Board of Governors of St. George's Beneficial School, Portsea (Chair of Buildings and Finance Committee).

Brian Miller
Brian Miller - TrusteeBrian has always lived and worked in Portsmouth and has been actively involved in the local community for many years.

After serving a five-year apprenticeship in HM Dockyard, Brian then worked as a ships joiner at the dockyard for a further 15 years. Following this, he ran his own business as a builder for a number of years which then led him to becoming a multi-trade foreman with Portsmouth City Council for 13 years.

In the later 1950's Brian formed a Youth Club in St Andrews Church at the Royal Marine Barracks in Eastney and in the late 60's overtook the running of another Youth Club at Eastney Methodist Church . In the mid '70's he was Chair of a steering group which successfully set up a Community Centre in Eastney.

He has been actively involved in St. Georges church in Portsea for the past 25 years, latterly being one of the Church Wardens. He has also been involved with various Community groups in Portsea and currently holds the posts of secretary of Portsea Community Association, secretary of the Portsea Area Board (SRB),and secretary & director of Portsea Action Group 99 Ltd. In addition he is also a member of the Local Strategic Partnership.

Janet de Bathe
Janet De Bathe - Trustee
Janet has a broad range of skills gained in both the private and voluntary sectors. She has lived and worked abroad and has established several successful businesses.

With a first degree in Social Policy and Administration and Postgraduate qualifications in Professional and Public Policy studies she has a broad understanding of the issues surrounding the economic prosperity and sustainability of business.

For the past 6 years she has been the Chief Executive Officer of Learning Links (Southern) Ltd. This educational charity works to widen participation in learning, especially by members of under-represented groups. Janet has a particular interest in the concept and practice of social enterprise.

Simon Frost
Simon has lived in Portsmouth since 1999, having previously lived in many different parts of the South – but is now happy to call the city his home. Simon is Chief Executive of South Coast Moneyline, a charitable and not-for-profit finance company based in Commercial Road. In addition to being delighted to become a Trustee of the John Pounds Community Trust, Simon is also a director of the YOU Trust and the Heart of Portsmouth Enterprise (HOPE).
 In his spare time, Simon is a member of Portsmouth Joggers and other clubs, and generally enjoys what the south coast has to offer.


The John Pounds Community Trust Objectives

  • To advance education among persons of 25 years or under and secondary to that
  • To help and educate young people through their leisure time activities so as to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and that their conditions of life may be improved
  •  To promote the healthy living benefits of the people of Portsmouth, particularly in the area known as Portsea. In co-operation with the residents of the area, the local authority and voluntary and other organisations, in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities for social, recreational and creative leisure time opportunities for the said residents with the object of improving their conditions of life
  • To establish, maintain and manage the John Pounds Community facility in liaison with other voluntary and statutory bodies and to promote community involvement in such management

The Area of Benefit of the Trust shall be the City of Portsmouth with particular reference to Portsea.
