John Pounds Community Trust

This charter shows our commitment achieving our shared vision of " a vibrant focus for Portsea and the gateway to a happier and healthier life for all "

We have identified the following factors as critical to the success of the redevelopment ( Critical Success Factors):-

  1. Creating a welcoming social focus , which encourages everyone to enjoy what is on offer.
  2. Promoting healthy lifestyles.
  3. Providing a range of community healthcare services.
  4. Generating employment , particularly for local people.
  5. Encouraging people to access lifelong learning opportunities.
  6. Encouraging enjoyment of reading and making the library easily accessible.
  7. Placing a café with healthy food and affordable eating at its heart.
  8. Giving access to facilities for sport and fitness for all.
  9. Making good use of the visual and performing arts.
  10. Providing access to technology.
  11. Providing accessible and affordable childcare.
  12. Providing opportunities and activities for young people and encouraging them to share their skills.
  13. Providing access to a variety of information and advice about Portsea and the rest of the City.
  14. Creating a mixture of new housing.
  15. Contributing to the regeneration of Portsea.
  16. Creating an umbrella organisation to involve stakeholders fully in planning, implementing and managing projects and activities.
  17. Developing strong and sustainable management .

Our Approach, Our Culture

In order to achieve all this, we shall:

  1. Encourage everyone to join in, whilst valuing individuality and differences, recognising the particular needs of local people.
  2. Recognise the special contributions local people can make in developing, implementing and managing projects.
  3. Share best practice and knowledge with each other and work together on joint initiatives.
  4. Develop activities and facilities open to all Portsmouth residents, managed with the needs of Portsea residents foremost.
  5. Work together to make the best use of our time and money, produce realistic aims and make things happen in agreed timescales.
  6. Enjoy a relationship which is based on supportiveness, openness, trust, honesty and integrity but which encourages creativity and allows challenge.
  7. Find solutions rather than problems.
  8. Work together to develop an agreed level of quality in everything and where possible, develop centres of excellence and good practice models.
  9. Plan the work to do things right the first time, but agree when risks need to be taken to create new opportunities and develop new approaches.
  10. Measure, monitor and strive for continuous improvement.
  11. Create an enjoyable and welcoming environment.
  12. Build safe, efficient, suitable buildings, which are flexible enough to adapt to future needs.
  13. Adopt environmentally friendly working practices and promote sustainability.
  14. Promote pride in the development through team and personal involvement, ownership and commitment.
  15. Create a sustainable Business Plan for the next 5 years.
  16. Balance quality, cost and timescales to get best value for the redevelopment.
