John Pounds Community Trust

The John Pounds Centre fitness suite is a modern air-conditioned facility comprises an extensive range of exercise equipment including state of the art Precor cardiovascular machines (20), 6 different weight resistance stations and a designated free weights area.

Our aim is to help you to achieve your health and fitness related goals in a safe, friendly environment. Whatever your fitness goals are, whether you want to lose weight, improve your fitness levels or just generally firm up those muscles, we can help you take your first step towards a healthier more active lifestyle.

Upon joining we will book you in for a one - one session with one of our fully qualified fitness instructors. In a relaxed environment they will find out what your main aims and objectives are, design a tailor made programme for you and then take you into the Fitness Suite and show you how to use all of the equipment safely and effectively. Do not worry if you do not take everything in during your first visit we can always arrange a follow up session where an instructor can go through your routine again with you until you are completely happy. You will have the opportunity to have your personal programme re-assessed at any time. This will enable us to re-assess your level of fitness on a regular basis and ensure that you remain on target for reaching your fitness goals.

As a member we hope you will decide to take part in our wide range of in house gym competitions and social events that have been largely responsible for creating our friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Junior Fitness Programme
John Pounds realises the importance of making health & fitness available to the whole of the local community. During the past six months we have carried out various community development initiatives involving local schools, health centres and businesses in the area.
To promote health & fitness to the teenage market we have recently set up Fitkids sessions which are designed to introduce 8-16 year olds to the benefits of regular exercise. Supervised by a fully qualified instructor the sessions take place on the following days and times:
