The John Pounds Centre is working hard to create the safest environment for our entire community. The centre has a number of services, each with its own challenges and specific guidance set out by the Government.

The Centre supports some of the most vulnerable people in our community and to this end we have adopted a phased approach to reopening.

In July and August the onsite nursery has reopened, and bookings are taking place in our training rooms, in line with Government guidance.

The Centre’s ‘Go Active’ children’s club is supporting schools around the city by delivering activities on their school sites.

Deep cleaning is taking place and cleaning schedules revised. Work commences shortly at reception to install screens on the main desk and signage supporting the new one way system to help you get around the building safely.

Like many charities the Trust has suffered financially by the lockdown; however you can be assured the management team is actively fund raising to help support the costs of activities and services at the centre and support the ongoing sustainability of the charity.

From 1st September 2020 the Centre will look to reopen appropriate community activity.

This will include our exercise classes and fitness suite. As you will understand there will be changes to how we do things, including numbers in each class, the content of each class, the equipment in use, and the introduction of a new booking system. We will share progress with you via our website and Facebook page over the coming weeks.

We are encouraging booking enquiries/ questions and queries via email [email protected] due to the fact that we are operating limited staff levels; and the telephone will not be monitored.

Thank you for your ongoing support and we hope to see you at the John Pounds Centre very soon.
